A: Evo Wireless Broadband offers up to 3.1 Mbps downlink and up to 1.8Mbps uplink. Average speeds vary from 300Kbps to 500Kbps for downlink and 200 Kbps to 400Kbps for uplink. However it varies depending on the physical situation of the user and the network at a particular time.

A: The device is available in USB and PCMCIA models. If the laptop does not have a PCMCIA slot, a USB device can be used.

A: : You need a PC (laptop or desktop) with USB port or a PCMCIA slot

Q: Can I use it while traveling? Does PTCL provide Roaming on this service? Where can I move with this service?

A: You can use this service in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi & Mirpur for broadband while traveling. Your Evdo automatically switches* to 1 X in non Evdo Coverage areas. Which means you can also use internet everywhere in Pakistan where there is Vfone 1900MHz network. Please note that in non Evdo coverage areas your internet will be connected on lower speed (153Kbps). PTCL provides a very large coverage area where you can stay connected. * (feature dependent on software settings of Evdo interface)

Q: How is Evo Wireless Broadband different than GPRS / EDGE, WiMAX and Wordcall Evdo?

A: GPRS and EDGE (GSM Technologies) offered by mobile companies do not offer broadband speeds. The peak data rate of GPRS is 144Kbps & that of Edge is 384Kbps whereas peak data rate of Evo Wireless Broadband is 3.1Mbps. Unlike WiMAX with Evo Wireless Broadband you can be mobile at your own convenience; you can shift your connection from  home  office  relatives place  friend�s house  restaurant  caf�  anywhere you want! PTCL offers roaming in all the big cities of Pakistan where network there is 1900MHz coverage. In Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi & Mirpur the service is available on broadband speeds whereas lower CDMA 1X speeds are available in all 1900 Mhz coverage areas of Vfone; which means that you are connected in almost entire Pakistan.

Q: What is the difference between speeds CDMA 1x and Evdo?

A: CDMA 1x is relatively slower when compared with Evdo in terms of speed and performance. While CDMA 1x offers maximum 153 Kbps, its successor Evdo offers up to 3.1 Mbps.

Q: What operating systems are compatible with Evo devices?

A: Evo USB devices are compatible with Windows 2000/XP/Vista & Mac OS. Whereas the PCMCIA devices are compatible with Windows 2000/XP & Vista.

Q: Will I be able get full 3.1 Mbps speed for downlink or 1.8 Mbps for uplink?

A: This depends on how far you are from the tower. Either with Evdo network or CDMA 1x, you will get very good speeds if the tower is within 2 � 3 KMs radius.
